- right-click copy-paste the how-long-ago-tooted bit in the upper-right; this will give you a URL for that toot
- search for that URL on the instance you want to boost from

And yes, I do want to be able to flush my ideas spontaneously. If I want to think of it, edit, rephrase and give a lot of attention, I would write a blog post.
The limit is especially painful when I write a post using a phone, when it's important to "flush" the stream of ideas.
It's less important when I type on my laptop, since exiting and splitting is much easier.
For Twitter-style impulsive writing, character limit is a bug, not a feature.
